It’s TIME to engage with buyers through Sponsorship

World Rugby and TUDOR have announced a long-term partnership.

The luxury watch brand sponsor has agreed a partnership with World Rugby to sponsor some of the world’s biggest rugby competitions.

The seven-year deal will see TUDOR become the official timekeeper of the Rugby World Cup 2019 and 2023, the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2021, Rugby World Sevens 2018 and annual World Rugby U20 Championship.

The deal involving the Swiss watchmaker has been described as the ‘biggest of its kind’ for the governing body. Bill Beaumont, World Rugby Chairman said “We are excited about our long-term partnership with Tudor. In line with Tudor’s ‘Born to Bare’ mantra, World Rugby is on a mission to grow our sport beyond its traditional markets and communities and we are looking forward to working with Tudor to further the projection of rugby in a global context.”

A spokesperson from Tudor echoed these sentiments adding: “World Rugby embodies the values that have made TUDOR what it is today, and because of that, we are proud to welcome them to our family. Much like ‘Born to Dare’, Tudor’s manifesto, World Rugby has a rich and famous history that has shaped the sport to what it has become today”.

As the clock struck and this deal was announced, it got us thinking. Imagine if a watch company were to sponsor all mass participation rugby clubs in th UK…

Sponsorship of mass rugby clubs gives organisations the chance to engage with their target audience face-to-face. We have seen significant returns from companies getting involved with club events, for example the an annual mini’s festival.

Imagine a watch company being the official timekeeper of all mini’s festivals around the country and engaging with hundreds of thousands of potential buyers on a weekly basis.

This kind of sponsorship would be great for mass clubs to receive sponsorship from a large brand whilst allowing the sponsor to engage with their end user target market in order to drive sales / business returns.
