Ebay

Changed the way we buy

Set up in 1997 by Pierre Omidyar Ebay, originally named AuctionWeb, was intended to bring together “buyers and sellers in an honest and open marketplace.”

In March 2008 the company was voted into the top 100 of Fortune Magazine’s best companies to work for and in January 2009 gained a 100% rating from the Human Rights Campaign.

By June 2012 Ebay had launched its Global Shipping Programme and, after acquiring Paypal in 2002, Ebay’s transactions became even more secure through PayPal’s buyer protection services.

Through a development of mobile apps for PayPal and Ebay, the partnership of Ebay with Myer in order to create the first virtual reality department store and the formation of an online personal shopping assistant named ShopBot, Ebay has enhanced the way we buy through establishing the benefits of online shopping.

Auto Trader

Changed the way we search

Aiming to find the right stock for the right price, promote stock to as many buyers as possible, promote businesses across multiple digital channels used by buyers as well as optimising stock turn and profit, AutoTrader has become the UK and Ireland’s largest digital automotive marketplace.

Beginning as a magazine, in 1996 AutoTrader became the first UK publisher to switch to an automatic layout software to produce its magazines. Acknowledging that people preferred to search for cars online than in a magazine, in 2010 Auto Trader’s iPhone app was downloaded by 300,000 people in the first 30 days of it being launched. Following this, in 2011 apps were created for Android and iPad and in June 2013 the final edition of Auto Trader was printed consequently making the company a 100% digital one.

LinkedIn

Changed the way we connect

Launched in 2003, LinkedIn has become the world’s largest networking site for employers and employees. With over 500 million members, 40 million of that being students and graduates, its aim is to connect the world’s professionals to enhance their productivity, and thereby the success of those looking for employment and those employing.

Facebook

Changed the way we message

In 2004 Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg, and was accessible to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia and Yale university students. The introduction of tools such as ‘The Facebook Wall’ allowed people to message posts to their friends. In 2005 Facebook opened up to 800 colleges and, during the same year, to high school networks across America which obtained them six million users.

In 2006 Facebook expanded its registration to anyone with a valid email address, and at present the website has grown from its one million users in 2005 to 1.94 billion active users per month.

The introduction of sharing photos, videos, and events has allowed for millions to connect with friends and families across the globe. The creation of Facebook messenger in 2008, which in 2015 launched Facebook Hello and video calling, and live streaming allows for friends and families to stay better connected.

SNAP’s Website Portal

Changed the way we sponsor

Launched in 2012, SNAP sponsorship was born out of a realisation by CEO Mark Covington that his local rugby club was struggling for funding and would benefit from sponsorship.

Working with a range of local business in varying fields the company grew and by July 2016 automating its methodology and putting the business online was the next step to scaling the business. Creating a one of a kind sponsorship portal, going online has enabled SNAP to change the perception and accessibility of sponsorship for the masses.

Rugby Clubs can build a profile and load their sponsorable assets, manage their existing sponsors and learn invaluable knowledge about sustainable sponsorship for grassroots sports clubs.

Potential sponsors can search for these clubs like autotrader, connect with them like LinkedIn, Purchase like Ebay and message them to finalise the sponsorship detail, just like Facebook.

This system is the first of its kind and will change the way we sponsor! Use it for free today – Head to the Clubs or Sponsors section!
