Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards

The popularity of women’s sport recently has seen a dramatic increase; SNAP has definitely seen a soar in the sponsorship of female teams!
On Thursday the sporting community will come together to celebrate an outstanding year for women’s sports, from the women’s rugby union side achieving a fantastic grand slam victory in the six nations, to the GB’s 4X 400m relay victory at the athletics world championships in August.
The awards have many categories and fields of recognition for outstanding sporting achievements for elite female athletes. The prestigious award of Team of the Year is one category that is hugely competitive due to the rise in popularity and success of female sport.
One contender for the Team of the Year is the success of the Women’s Rugby Union side was seen in their demolition in this year’s Six Nation. The roses scored 36 tires with an overall amount of 216 points, and claimed a Grand Slam victory; this left the roses confident for a successful Rugby World Cup.
Mark and Simon from SNAP visited first hand the success of the Women’s Rugby Union team in Belfast, where they saw the red rose’s dig out a 20-3 victory against the French. This was a great time for SNAP to to further engage with some of the England players on the chance of working with SNAP after the World Cup, due to the large portion of the squad’s contracts not being renewed.
Although losing to a physical All Black side in the final of the World Cup, the roses have been nominated for Women’s Team of the Year and we wish them good luck on Thursday night.
